I was born in the 80s in Ballina, Co. Mayo, a small town on the Irish west coast. Growing up in a traditional Irish Bed & Breakfast, I always enjoyed chatting to our guests from all over the world and was intrigued by their travel stories.
Fast forward to the year 2015. After 12 years of studying, working, and exploring abroad, I returned home and fell in love with the Irish west coast all over again. I had couch surfed around the world, discovered my passion for outdoor sports, and became a Whiskey enthusiast while working for Irish Distillers and the Jameson brand.
The next chapter
At this point, I wasn’t sure what this next chapter in my life would be. One evening I got chatting to a family that stayed in my Mam’s B&B. I told them about my favourite spots in Mayo and they asked me if I’d be up for bringing them on a guided walking tour.
They spent 3 days exploring Ireland with me, we all had an amazing time, the idea for my award winning small group tours of Ireland was born and I started to create Rachel’s Irish Adventures.
