Leave the hustle and bustle of your everyday life and escape to Clare Island for a weekend of yoga, meditation and mindfulness. A restorative, revitalising two nights’ weekend escape designed to relax you and recharge your batteries. Rachel’s Irish Adventures has teamed up with the internationally renowned Macalla farm to offer this exclusive weekend of self-exploration and discovery, reconnecting the body and mind and all in the idyllic setting of Clare Island, overlooking Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick.

Price: €349 per person sharing (If you come alone, you will be sharing a room with another person of the same sex)

 What’s included:

  • Two nights’ accommodation at self catering cosy traditional cottages overlooking Clew Bay
  • Two delicious brunches and two dinners at Macalla farm. All food is vegetarian, fresh from the garden and homemade
  • Four 2-3 hour yoga/mindful sessions at Macalla Farm with internationally renowned instructors
  • Free time to go for a walk, relax, read or learn about becoming self-sufficient in the garden
  • Return ferry from Ronnagh Pier to Clare Island
  • Free transport from Ballina to Ronnagh pier (on request)



  • The fun begins! Rachel's Irish Adventures bus leaves from the Ballina bus station at 2.30pm (Please contact Rachel directly if you wish to avail of this service)
  • The ferry for Clare Island departs at 5.30pm, subject to weather conditions
  • On arrival, your hosts Christophe and Ciara from Macalla Farm will collect you and bring you to your accommodation
  • There will be a short 1.5 hour yoga introduction class, followed by a scrumptious vegetarian dinner. Remember there is no alcohol or caffeine so your body will be is in for a treat! After dinner, you can choose to do a short self guided mediation or get an early night

Saturday morning

  • Wake up your senses to a morning yoga session from 8.30am-11.30am, the focus is on the awareness of breathing and gentle movement. Ciara will guide you through a transformative practice which aims at developing mindfulness of body, breath and mind through asanas (postures), systematic relaxation, pranayama (breath training), dryas (cleansing practices) and various meditation techniques
  • Bring your tastebuds alive with a delicious vegetarian brunch. Eating with this fuller consciousness, you will re-discover the satisfaction that comes from connecting with real food—food that has been grown in soil that is rich with vitality, prepared in a kitchen with attention and care

Saturday afternoon

  • Enjoy free-time to explore the stunning landscape of Clare Island, relax with a book or learn more about becoming self-sufficient in the garden. This is time-out for you!
  • From 5-7pm, it's your second yoga session on the day, this will incorporate mindful walking, breathing awareness techniques and mindful exercises
  • Soak up the atmosphere around the table, sharing great company and delicious food. Indulge  on a variety of creative dishes freshly prepared by Ciara and Christophe. There is also an emphasis on preserving and fermenting to deal with seasonal gluts of various fruits and vegetables
  • After dinner, there is an optional 30 minutes of mediation, you can also borrow one of the many books to read or enjoy the conversation for a little longer before hitting the hay!

Sunday morning

  • Rise and shine ! It's your last morning on the island. For the morning lovers, get up early and take a walk to the Lighthouse for sunrise, it's a piece of heaven as you overlook Achill Island, Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay

  • Your last yoga session overlooking the dramatic cliffs of Clare Island will take place by candlelight from 8.30am-11.30am. Your body will be calm and you can put together all you have learned in the previous three sessions. You will leave with the tools to continue this self exploration of self-awareness in your own time, creating your own daily practice
  • Enjoy the last brunch together around the table and share your experiences with each other. Ciara and Christophe will be there to answer any questions you might have and are more than happy to share their wisdom and positive energy with everyone

Sunday afternoon

  • You will have the afternoon to further explore the area, you can rent a bike, take a walk and discover the birth place of the famous ledgiest Grace O'Malley or do an activity with Clare Island Adventures. The islanders are friendly and love to share their stories so don't be shy or surprised if they stop and ask you if you need a lift- they're just mad for the chat!
  • The boat will depart from the pier at 5.30pm and you will then be transported back to Ballina by Rachel's Irish Adventures. This will certainly be an adventure of great personal benefit and one you will never forget!
